I tried the Tide Up - Plastic Free Me, subscription box for three months. And here are my thoughts on the product :)

Box 1:

The first box contained kitchen items made from plastic free products, such as; metal straws, wooden spoon/fork, metal tin, reusable coffee cup and a soy food cover. My favourite items in this box were the cup, straws and food cover because they've been super useful and are really good quality.

The box came slightly late but the owner of Tide Up messaged an apology for the inconvenience.

Box 2:

The second box contained bathroom/beauty products and a big reusable item. In this box I received a shopping bag, soap, reef safe sun screen, lip-balm, biodegradable glitter and a pin for another charity. My favourite items in this box were the bag, soap, lip-balm and sunscreen.

I found these four items the most useful. However, the sunscreen should really only be used for swimming purposes. I tried it on a general sunny day and got a little sunburnt.

This box was also a little late but the manager messaged me straight away to let me know.

Box 3:

This was my final Tide Up box and it consisted of beauty products. The items were; lip-balm, moisturiser, mascara, face powder and four knitted make up pads. This was sadly my least favourite box because I'd already received a lip-balm in the last box which I hadn't finished yet, and I'm personally not a big make up person. However, the items I was not so into made great gifts for friends and started their own plastic free journeys.

My favourite items from this box were the make up pads, (which I'm actually going to turn into christmas decorations,) and the moisturiser.

I found these two items the most useful and for me, part of the plastic free and waste free journey is to only have items which are useful in my home.

Tide Up Review:

I super liked Tide Up as a company. They do great work in supporting SAS, (Surfers Against Sewage,) they also supported Hartiful in one of their boxes with a pin.

All of their products were environmentally friendly and often supported smaller local companies which is very nice of them and great for the environment. The boxes always arrived looking great and honestly always had good products inside them.

Overall, I believe their is only one thing I would add to the subscription which would make it better for me, and that is a note to describe each of the products in the box. In the final box I struggled to work out how to use two of the items and had to ask others for help, this could have been stopped with a note. It would also be nice to know where some items, such as the soap and the bag, came from to look up the companies and possibly buy more from them.

But this is a minor change and one that I'm sure others wouldn't need.

In terms of money, a monthly subscription usually costs £30, but is currently on sale for £25.50. Three months should cost £85, but currently costs £74.80 and a 6 month subscription costs £160 but is currently £144. In each box you receive 5 items, all of good quality and from sustainable sources. I found the price reasonable.

I would give the Tide Up Box 5* ***** due to their friendly attitude, great products, and their company goal.
